Key Responsibilities for Site Engineers & Quality Engineers in Construction
A) Site Engineers
1. Reading & Interpreting Drawings
- Understand structural, architectural, and MEP drawings.
- Ensure execution as per approved plans.
2. Site Supervision
- Monitor daily site activities, manpower, and material usage.
- Enforce safety and quality protocols.
3. Construction Methods & Materials
- Apply modern construction techniques.
- Understand properties of concrete, steel, bricks, etc.
4. Work Scheduling
- Prepare and follow daily/weekly work schedules.
- Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers.
5. Leveling & Surveying
- Use tools like auto level and total station.
- Check alignment, layout, and levels.
6. Concrete Works
- Inspect formwork, reinforcement, mix design, and curing.
- Supervise casting and post-casting activities.
7. Progress Reporting
- Maintain Daily Progress Reports (DPR).
- Communicate with the project manager regularly.
8. Coordination
- Liaise with architects, consultants, and team members.
- Handle labor issues and resolve on-site conflicts.
B) Quality Engineers
1. Quality Control & Assurance
- Implement and monitor quality control plans.
- Ensure quality throughout construction phases.
2. Material Testing
- Conduct tests on cement, aggregates, concrete, and steel.
- Ensure materials meet IS/ASTM standards.
3. Inspection & Checklists
- Perform pre-, during, and post-activity inspections.
- Use checklists to ensure compliance at every stage.
4. Documentation
-Maintain all test and inspection records.
- Ensure material traceability and proper documentation.
5. Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
- Identify and report non-conformities.
- Implement corrective and preventive actions.
6. Third-Party Testing
- Coordinate with certified labs.
- Verify results against specifications.
7. Audit & Compliance
- Prepare for internal/external audits.
- Ensure compliance with ISO, QMS, etc.
8. Training & Awareness
- Conduct quality awareness sessions
