Bringing Government to the People, One Town, One Conversation at a Time‼️
The Presidential Town Hall in Kenema was a powerful reminder of what democracy looks like when it’s open, direct, and people-led.
Held for the first time outside the capital and organised by the Ministry of Information and Civic Education, the Town Hall brought together a remarkable mix of voices, government officials, traditional leaders, students, civil society, and everyday citizens, all under one roof at the Kenema City Hall.
The Minister of Communication, Technology and Innovation, Madam Salima Monorma Bah, joined the Presidential Town Hall where the Chief Minister, Dr. David Moinina Sengeh, represented H.E. President Julius Maada Bio. Over 20 ministers and deputy ministers sat alongside Members of Parliament, traditional leaders, and heads of public institutions.
In her remarks, Minister Bah spoke on the progress being made in Sierra Leone’s digital transformation, from expanding nationwide connectivity to rolling out digital platforms that make government services easier to access. But she was clear, this is just the beginning. The work to reach every citizen is far from over. True transformation means reaching every corner, every household, every citizen, not just with technology, but with real access, real understanding, and real benefit.
Thank you to the Ministry of Information and Civic Education for leading this. Thank you to Kenema for showing us what civic participation looks like when it’s owned by the people.
This is how we strengthen democracy, not just through systems, but through presence, accountability, and listening.
