With the completion of a strategic road linking Panjshir to the hypothetical Durand Line through Zibak district in Badakhshan, the province is now connected to Pakistan’s Chitral region for the first time. Saifuddin Latoon, spokesperson for the Panjshir governor, stated that the 194-kilometer-long, 10-meter-wide road traverses one of Afghanistan’s most challenging mountainous and border terrains. Governor Hafiz Mohammad Agha Hakim hailed the project, emphasizing the Islamic Emirate’s commitment to ending Panjshir’s economic isolation and transforming it into a regional trade hub through the development of key infrastructure. Notably, this new route links Panjshir to Nuristan, Takhar, and Badakhshan before reaching Chitral, Pakistan.
