The Government issued a notification to conduct the Census. The notification issued by the Home Ministry said, the reference date for the census shall be 1st March 2027, except for the Union territory of Ladakh the snow-bound non-synchronous areas of the Union territory of Jammu and Kashmir and the States of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. For these areas, the reference date shall be 1st October, 2026. 2. Himachal Pradesh opened the Shipki La Pass to domestic tourists. This pass, located at an altitude of 3,930 metres in Kinnaur district, aims to boost border tourism and revive India-China trade. 3. Telangana State Education Department has signed Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) with some NGOs to enhance teaching infrastructure and learning outcomes across all government schools yesterday. The MoUs have been signed in the presence of Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. As per the MoUs, the NGOs will offer state-of-the-art technology-based teaching services free of cost to students in the government schools. 4. BJP hit out at the Congress led Karnataka government for its decision to again conduct caste census in the state. 5. A cholera outbreak in Jajpur, Odisha, has raised health concerns. India’s wholesale price index (WPI)-based inflation eased to a 14-month low of 0.39 per cent in May, down from 0.85 percent in April.
