According to reports, the incident occurred at approximately 20:49 along the Vaalbank main road, a few kilometers from the local traffic department. It is alleged that SAPS members were driving along the main road when they noticed a person lying along the roadside. Upon closer inspection, they discovered the lifeless body of male, lying on his back and bleeding from the head. The Northern Cape registered truck was deemed a moving hazard with various defects ranging from loose steering rack, loose wiring in the cabin, and tyres not in good condition. The driver then offered the young female officer a R1500 bribe which she refused and proceeded to arrest the driver. Transport MEC, Xolile Nqatha has applauded the young female officer for her actions, calling them an act of bravery and absolute patriotism, putting public safety over personal gain.
