The absence of social media when Cristiano Ronaldo and Leo Messi started their careers really helped them. They grew up with great ambitions, which wasn't affected by too much media hype. When Ronaldo was playing against the likes of Zidane in the 2000s, the spotlight wasn't on him. The likes of Figo, Gomes, Pauleta, Deco were in the team. He faced players like Maldini, Nesta, just like a normal player. The tabloid might talk about him then, but not like they talk about Yamal these days. Yamal needs to be mentally strong to deal with the attention on him. After losing the Nation's League and the backlash from football lovers, the urge to correct the errors in subsequent competitions could have a negative effect on him. Just like Ronaldo said before the final, Yamal should be compared with players like Vitinha and not him. When you keep telling him that he is in the same league or he has already surpassed this or that, you are doing him more harm than good. Just imagine, a whole country lost a match, and the 17 year old player is being targeted for mockery. The one that missed the penalty is not even targetted. That's what the exposure has caused him. He needs the strength to overcome every setback. He has a long way to go, and the future is bright for him. Media should let him be while he also should be careful. Maybe his dad needs to school him more. He shouldn't let the interview ruin him, except he thinks he is mentally mature for the aftermath. Not many teenage players have this type of grace.
