After completing her National Diploma in Correctional Services Management, Mafalo joined the Department of Correctional Services (DCS) learnership programme in 2019. She was appointed as a correctional security official in 2021 and underwent Emergency Support Team (EST) training in 2022. Mafalo's experience includes working at the Access Control Gate, escorting offenders, and participating in security raids. She was deployed to Kutama Sinthumule Correctional Facility after a fire incident in 2023, providing administrative and security support. Mafalo's diverse background also includes experience in a poultry production facility, which enhanced her administrative skills.
