*🛫 RTR Afternoon Paper — VT-SOP*
*Part 2*
WPC
The examiner asked the candidate to draw the complete ILS (Instrument Landing System) and explain each component in detail, including the Localizer (LLZ) and DME. The candidate was unable to explain it fully to the examiner’s satisfaction.
The candidate was asked to state the frequencies of all common navigation aids, except MLS.
A detailed explanation of the Radio Altimeter was required — what it is, how it works, and exactly what it measures. Although the candidate explained it well, the examiner expected the specific wording: “It measures the height from the aircraft’s lowest wheel.”
Questions about the number of attempts and total flying hours were asked.
The examiner presented a basic resistor circuit and asked the candidate to calculate the total current and explain the formulas for series and parallel circuits.
Questions related to ICAO were also asked: its purpose, location of headquarters, global necessity, and whether it is owned by any particular country.
Finally, the examiner posed a tricky question: “Tell me the GPS frequency and you can leave!” The candidate politely responded, “Sir, GPS does not have a single frequency.” — which the examiner accepted with a smile.
*DGCA (Focused and in-depth)*
The examiner enquired about the written paper and the candidate’s experience with it.
The candidate was asked why they chose the conventional CPL path instead of a cadet pilot program.
Questions about ELTs (Emergency Locator Transmitters) were asked, including their function, activation, and importance in aviation safety.
The candidate was asked to explain GNSS (Global Navigation Satellite System).
The examiner requested a detailed drawing and explanation of the Runway and Taxiway Lighting system.
A diagram of a displaced threshold was asked for, along with its purpose.
The examiner asked for the difference between an Aircraft and an Airplane.
Finally, the candidate was asked to write the full form of DGCA.
