📌 *Reflect on This, O Parents!!*
Do not raise your children to perform acts of worship merely for worldly gain. It is a mistake to condition a child to seek closeness to Allah only in exchange for material rewards.
Saying things like:
_“Pray and I’ll give buy you Ice cream on my way from work"_
_“Pray and I’ll take you to such-and-such place,”_
…These teaches them to associate worship with worldly benefits. This cultivates in their hearts a love for this world, not for Allah.
Instead, *guide* their hearts towards seeking Al-Jannah and the pleasure of Allah.
Rather, Say to them:
_“Perhaps if you pray, Allah – the Mighty and Majestic – may guide me to buy you ice cream on my way from work.”_
*CONNECT THEM TO THE PLEASURE OF ALLAH*
_“Perhaps if you pray, Allah will make it easy for me to take you to Such and such place.”_
This approach is essential in faith-based upbringing. It nurtures sincerity (ikhlāṣ) and fosters a deep connection with Allah.
That’s why you find some children who say, *“I don’t lie because lying leads to Hellfire.”* They were raised with this awareness, and it stays with them.
But if you say, *Don’t lie or I’ll be upset with you,”* then when you're not around, they may see no issue in lying—because their restraint was tied to your presence, not their fear of ALLAH.
