*🗣️ Public Notice – Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) Advisory 🇿🇼* ZRP wishes to issue the following safety advisory to the public: 1. There is no guaranteed income on the streets — times are tough for everyone. Ask yourself: what’s your own luck today? Be cautious not to lose the little you already have. 2. No one drops money by mistake and allows others to find it. If someone drops money and you pick it up, and then another stranger suggests sharing it, this is a known scam — often called “Chadonha”. 3. Phones, laptops, and other electronics should be purchased from reputable stores. If someone is selling these items on the street, ask yourself: did they buy them from a shop? Beware of being sold “dummy” phone or laptop covers stuffed with clay. 4. Polish your shoes at home, not in town. You risk being overcharged or stolen from during the process. 5. You are not Google Maps — avoid giving directions to strangers. You may end up being misled, followed, or robbed. 6. If a stranger bumps into you and apologizes, be alert. This may be a setup to rob you — stay off your phone while walking and remain vigilant at all times. 7. Board public transport (buses or registered commuter vehicles) — private vehicles or unregistered transport providers ("go-fasters" or mushika-shika) are high-risk for theft or assault. 8. Do not lend your phone to strangers claiming they have an emergency. If they truly need help, they should go to the police. This is a common tactic used to steal phones. 9. If you bought your car with your hard-earned money, don’t risk it by offering rides to unknown passengers for a few extra dollars. You could be hijacked and reduced to a pedestrian again. 10. In town, everyone knows how to read and count money. If someone claims they don’t understand USD and just arrived from Mozambique or Zambia, do not assist — it’s a con to steal your money. 11. The city is not a dating platform. Avoid looking for love in town. Everyone you see already has someone — it’s a trap to lure and rob you. 12. Lastly, when leaving your house, let a trusted neighbor know. Your neighbors are your first line of crime prevention — don’t keep your movements a secret. Stay alert and protect yourself. Let us all work together for a safer Zimbabwe. #crimestopzimbabwe #zrpadvisory #crimewatch
