*Acts 8:30–31 (NIV):* Then Philip ran up to the chariot and heard the man reading Isaiah the prophet. ‘Do you understand what you are reading?’ Philip asked. ‘How can I,’ he said, ‘unless someone explains it to me?’ So he invited Philip to come up and sit with him.
*IT IS GIVEN TO US TO KNOW*
The Ethiopian eunuch had a deep desire to understand the scriptures. Yet with all his zeal, he remained in the dark.
This is the condition of all who are outside of Christ—blind to the true meaning of the scriptures. Why? Because the Bible, without the life of Christ, is a closed book. The Word is Spirit-breathed, and without the Holy Spirit, there can be reading without revelation.
But this should not be the testimony of the believer.
Jesus told His disciples in Matthew 13:11, “To you it has been given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven.” For those of us who are in Christ, the veil has been lifted. We have not only the Word, but the Author living inside of us. We read, not to figure things out, but to receive instruction, correction, transformation, and empowerment.
For the man outside the covenant, the scriptures are a puzzle. But for the one who has received Christ, the scriptures are a mirror—showing us who we are and calling us to walk accordingly.
Believer, stop approaching your Bible as if you’re still on the outside. You are not reading to discover truth like the eunuch—you are reading to apply the truth you’ve been given. Revelation is your inheritance. Application is your responsibility.
*FURTHER STUDY:* Matthew 13:11, 1 Corinthians 2:12
*GOLDEN NUGGET:* For the man outside the covenant, the scriptures are a puzzle. But for the one who has received Christ, the scriptures are a mirror—showing us who we are and calling us to walk accordingly.
*PRAYER:* Father, thank You for giving me access to Your Word through Jesus Christ. I know that I am no longer on the outside looking in. I have the Spirit, and I have the mind of Christ. I approach Your Word with boldness—not to interpret as one in the dark, but to apply as one to whom it has been revealed. Your Word shapes my life, directs my steps, and bears fruit in me daily. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
