With the number of LPG connections in India rising to 33+ crores from just about 14+ crores in 2014, the overall LPG coverage has saturated from 62% before 2016 to over 100% now. More than 10.33 crore free connections distributed across the urban and rural areas of the country under #pmuy have played a significant role in this transformation under the leadership of PM Sh Narendra Modi Ji. As the number of LPG dealerships increase to more than 25,570 to cater to the rising demand, in a meeting with senior officials of MoPNG and CMDs of India’s energy sector PSUs, we discussed the policy of portability from one OMC to another for the consumers. In order to cover rural and far flung areas OMCs have also engaged 22,443 Common Service Centre (CSC)/ Village Level Entrepreneurs (VLEs) which have delivered 58 lakhs cylinders in FY 2024-25.
