The government has reaffirmed its commitment to completing all ongoing infrastructure projects within set timelines, aligning with President Emmerson Mnangagwa’s vision of an empowered, upper-middle-income society by 2030.
The assurance follows President Mnangagwa’s recent commissioning of the US$88 million Trabablas Interchange, located at the intersection of Simon Mazorodze, Chitungwiza, and High Glen roads.
The project is expected to reduce congestion and improve urban mobility in southern Harare.
Transport and Infrastructural Development Minister Felix Mhona emphasised that infrastructure development remains a top priority, with the government working to ensure roads, bridges and border posts meet world-class standards.
"With the successful completion of this interchange—once a hotspot for traffic gridlocks—Zimbabwe is moving closer to achieving His Excellency, President Mnangagwa’s vision for economic progress.
This milestone marks another achievement in our infrastructure transformation journey," Mhona said.
He highlighted that major transport projects are progressing nationwide, designed to boost connectivity and facilitate trade.
"We are determined to maintain this momentum and continue modernising Zimbabwe’s infrastructure to support growth and efficiency," he added.
According to The Herald, President Mnangagwa’s Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo mantra has played a pivotal role in shaping Zimbabwe’s development drive, encouraging national participation in infrastructure expansion.
Mhona praised the President’s leadership, saying his dedication to inclusive development has been a driving force behind the country’s rapid infrastructural improvements.
"His Excellency’s commitment to progress, his focus on leaving no one behind, and his leadership in transforming our infrastructure have set Zimbabwe on a path of success," Mhona remarked.
Officials confirmed that work will continue at full speed, with further upgrades planned to enhance accessibility and connectivity across the country.
