US wants access to social media accounts as it resumes Student Visa processing— new requirement in effect
The Ministry of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs wishes to inform the public that the Embassy of the United States of America has officially resumed processing student visa applications (F-1, M-1, and J-1) for international students intending to pursue academic programs in the United States.
This follows the lifting of a temporary suspension on student visa appointments that had been in effect since May 2025. The Ministry welcomes this development, recognizing its importance for nationals who have secured placements at accredited U.S. institutions.
Applicants for student visas are strongly encouraged to carefully review and comply with the official guidelines issued by the U.S. Department of State. Special attention should be paid to requirements related to social media account accessibility and the submission of supporting documents.
Prospective students are urged to ensure that all information submitted is accurate, complete, and consistent with U.S. authorities’ instructions to facilitate smooth processing of their applications.
The Ministry remains committed to supporting nationals in accessing educational opportunities abroad and will continue collaborating with Trinidad and Tobago’s bilateral partners to advance this goal.
