*MASVINGO PROVINCIAL INFORMATION DESK OFFICIAL* _Minister Chadzamira Opens Village Business Unit in Chivi North_ *By Tafara Pande* Chivi - The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Hon. E.R. Chadzamira, recently visited Tavaruva Village Business Unit in Ward 9 of Chivi North Constituency to officially open the vibrant community-driven project. The unit, made up of 49 women and 11 men, stands as a symbol of unity, empowerment, and grassroots development. During the event, an Agritex officer described the initiative as “life-transforming,” noting its positive impact on social cohesion and conflict resolution within the community. The garden was established through savings generated from the Presidential Poultry Projects, demonstrating how national programs are helping communities reinvest in sustainable agriculture. Among the crops currently under cultivation are maize and various vegetables. Hon. Godfrey Mukungunugwa, Member of Parliament for Chivi North, praised the community for their unity and dedication, which have brought this project to life. He emphasized that with full land utilization, the Village Business Unit has the potential to significantly improve household food security and contribute to local economic development. Following the official opening, Minister Chadzamira toured the garden and applauded the members for their resilience and agricultural innovation. He debunked the long-held myth that Chivi is not suitable for farming, saying this project is evidence that, with commitment and proper support, the area can be productive.
