Masvingo - A determined team of 10 patriotic walkers is marching from Zvishavane to Harare in a bold stand against drug and substance abuse. Under the banner of (VICAS) Visionary Cadres Association of Zimbabwe, an affiliate of ZANU PF the team is working closely with the Inter-Ministerial Task Force on the Demand Reduction Pillar, led by National Chairperson Onwell Sisimayi, to amplify President Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa’s call: “Say No to Drugs.”
The walkers, supported by the Ministry of Youth, Empowerment and Vocational Training and various well-wishers, are being provided with food and accommodation throughout the journey. The campaign's message is clear, drug abuse is a national enemy, a destroyer of youth potential, and a threat to development.
Among the walkers are prominent community leaders: Mr. Mwadira Naboth (Secretary General, Community Action Group), Miss Reginah Munyamani (Community action group National Chair), Masvingo Provincial chairperson Vicaz, Miss Khayelihle Ncube, Mr. Handrick Hwanda (Deputy Chair), Justin Chisirimunhu (Masvingo District Chair), Benson Chawatama (Zvishavane Secretary General), Moreblessing Mandungweni (Masvingo Secretary for Finance), Advance Sithole (Logistics), and Eria Mbengo (Deputy National Chair).
The team departs Masvingo tomorrow at 10:00am, heading to Harare, with the walkathon expected to end on June 27. Speaking on behalf of the group, Onwell Sisimayi stressed that the walk is not just symbolic but a national call to action.
“We are following His Excellency’s vision. We fully support President Mnangagwa’s anti-drug drive and we want to show the world that Zimbabweans say no to drugs,” he said.
This patriotic journey highlights unity, responsibility, and the urgent need to complement government efforts in protecting the future of Zimbabwe’s youth.
