*By Tafara Pande*
Masvingo - The ZANU PF family is mourning the passing of veteran cadre Cde Haruzivishe Mugabe, who died on Sunday in Masvingo due to health complications related to sugar diabetes. A stalwart of the liberation movement and a lifelong party loyalist, Cde Mugabe was widely respected for his integrity, unity-building spirit, and dedication to the ideals of the ruling party.
Known as a trusted cadre and community leader, Cde Mugabe played a pivotal role in both political and cultural spheres. As custodian of the Great Zimbabwe Monuments, he contributed significantly to preserving the nation’s cultural heritage, while also inspiring younger generations through his loyalty and wisdom.
ZANU PF Masvingo District Chairman Cde Tawanda Dube described him as a unifier, “a man of his word, whose departure leaves a void difficult to fill.” His commitment and humility earned him admiration across political and community structures.
The funeral, marked by deep emotion and reflection, was attended by several senior party officials including Provincial Vice Chairman Cde Trust Mugabe, DCC Chairman Cde Tawanda Dube, Cde Isau Mutanho, Cllr Zishiri (Women’s Quota, Masvingo Urban), and Cde Tariro Bwerinofa from the Zimbabwe National Youth Service Graduates. Traditional leader Chief Mugabe also paid his respects to the late Headman Rati.
The strong turnout of party leaders and community members highlighted the profound impact Cde Mugabe had on both ZANU PF and the Masvingo community. His passing is regarded as a significant loss, not only to the party but to the broader struggle for cultural preservation and political unity.
