17 June 2025
Masvingo – The Visionary Cadres Association of Zimbabwe (ViCAZ), in partnership with the Ministry of Youth, Empowerment and Vocational Training, embarked on a bold and symbolic Walkathon from Masvingo to Harare yesterday, departing at 10 AM.
The group, escorted by the Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and the campaign aims to amplify a strong national message: Say No to Drugs and Substance Abuse.
Representing the Boyz Dza Mudhara Masvingo Province chairman Mr. Tafara Pande, secretary-general Sarah Wadi joined the send-off alongside the Permanent Secretary for Masvingo Provincial Affairs and Devolution Dr Addmore Pazvakavambwa and the Director in the Ministry of Youth Masvingo Province Mr Mbizvo. The dignitaries donated food items and essentials to the determined walkers in a show of unity and encouragement.
Before continuing their journey, the ViCAZ team paid a courtesy visit to the Minister of State’s office, reaffirming their commitment to supporting the government's anti-drug initiatives. Their campaign aligns with national efforts to tackle the growing threat of drug abuse among youth.
Speaking during the send-off ceremony, Dr. Pazvakavambwa stressed the importance of collective stakeholder involvement in the fight against drugs. He applauded the ViCAZ team’s voluntary action and expressed hope that their message would resonate deeply with communities along the route to Harare.
“This is more than just a walk it’s a national statement. Your dedication is inspiring,” he said.
As the Walkathon progresses toward the capital, Zimbabwe watches with admiration as ViCAZ leads by example in raising awareness, sparking dialogue, and marching toward a drug-free future.
