*AFI Aviation Week Official Opening: A Resounding Success* The AFI Aviation Week officially opened with resounding success! The program featured insightful remarks by AFCAC, an opening address by the Minister of Transport and Infrastructural Development, Hon. Adv. F. T. Mhona (MP); and a compelling speech by our Guest Speaker, The Vice President of the Republic of Zimbabwe, Hon. Colonel (Retired) Cde. K.C.D. Mohadi. In his address, Hon. Mhona highlighted key advancements in aviation, noting that significant enhancements to air navigation and safety have been made through the installation of advanced navigation systems and the modernisation of Aeronautical Information Services. Regarding human capital development, he proudly announced the launch of the Aviation Training Academy of Zimbabwe (ATAZ), which received ICAO accreditation. The Hon Minister also emphasised Zimbabwe's commitment to international cooperation and recognition, evidenced by its active participation as a member of the ICAO Council. He finally shared a crucial milestone in air transport facilitation, Zimbabwe’s successful joining of the ICAO Public Key Directory (PKD) on September 14, 2022, becoming the 84th state to utilise this platform for the secure verification and authentication of electronic travel documents.
