The National Examinations Council (NECO) has announced that the 2025 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE) into Junior Secondary School 1 in Nigeria’s federal unity colleges will take place on Saturday, June 14, 2025.
This was disclosed over the weekend in a statement from the council, which confirmed that all registered candidates will sit for the entrance exam at designated centres across the federation.
The NCEE is conducted annually by NECO for Primary 6 pupils seeking admission into the 110 federal government unity colleges across the country. The exam serves as a key gateway into Nigeria’s secondary education system.
“The 2025 examination will be conducted in designated centres across the country for applicants who completed their primary education during the 2024/2025 academic session,” NECO stated.
The council also reminded parents and guardians to ensure their children and wards are present at their assigned examination centres on the scheduled date.
Candidates eligible to write the exam must be between the ages of 10 and 13. Subjects to be tested include Mathematics, English Language, General Science, Social Studies, as well as Quantitative and Verbal Aptitude.
The NCEE is one of the major examinations conducted by NECO, alongside the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and the Senior Secondary Certificate Examination (SSCE).
NECO reiterated its commitment to maintaining the integrity of its examinations and ensuring equal opportunity for all candidates.
