Eid al-Adha isn’t complete without Qurbani/Udhiya. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever can afford it but does not offer a sacrifice—let him not come near our prayer place.” [Ibn Majah] What is Qurbani? Also called Udhiya, Qurbani means sacrifice. It’s a Sunnah Mu’akkadah—a strongly emphasized Sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ. (In the Hanafi madhab, it is wajib) If you earn enough to meet your family’s needs and have extra, you’re expected to give. What can be sacrificed?  • Goat, sheep, lamb — 1 person each • Cow or camel — can cover up to 7 people You can give on behalf of yourself, your family, or even deceased loved ones. And a third (or more) of the meat is shared with the poor and hungry. How can you fulfill it? • Donate online through a trusted charity—they’ll do the sacrifice and distribute the meat • Perform it yourself locally, if you’re able to and share the meat with friends and family Qurbani is done after Eid prayer on the 10th, 11th, or 12th of Dhul Hijjah. That’s why many people celebrate this Eid across a few days. May Allah accept your sacrifice!
