Gender Score Card for CSR Proposals:
Being a part of Gender Think Tank we had a meeting on last Friday. One of the agenda is to know if any Corporate has it’s gender scorecard to evaluate proposals submitted by not for profit organisations. Tried best to check with csr donors across by reaching out to multiple groups and individuals. Few sensitive CSR professionals replied me saying they don’t have. Most of them didn’t even bother to reply. I spoke to five independent director of board committee on csr. Realised csr ecosystem do have a gender Standard Operating Procedures or score card. Is that the state on #gender in CSR? I don’t know? Their might be few #corporates with this. If you are one of them please connect below and share your thoughts.
However, we decided to come out with a gender #scorecard for CSR ecosystem. I have proposed following indicators which are in alignment with UN’s Gender Mainstreaming Guidelines and OECD’s gender equality markers.
1. Gender Disaggregated Data: Does the csr proposal include data collection and analysis separated by gender (e.g., male, female, non binary) to understand the specific needs, participation rates, or impacts on different groups?
2. Gender Specific Objectives: Are the csr project’s goals explicitly designed to address gender inequalities or empower specific gender groups, such as reducing #disparities in access to resources or opportunities?
3. Participation and Representation: Does the csr proposal ensure #equitable participation of all genders in planning, implementation, and decision making processes, including #leadership roles?
4. Access to Resources: Does the csr proposal address equal access to resources (e.g., education, healthcare, economic opportunities) for all genders, particularly for marginalized groups like women or non-binary individuals?
5. Gender Based Impact Assessment: Does the csr proposal include a plan to assess how outcomes will affect different genders, including potential unintended consequences (e.g., reinforcing stereotypes or exclusion)?
6. Addressing Gender Based Violence (GBV): If relevant, does the csr proposal include measures to prevent GBV, such as safe spaces, awareness campaigns, or support services for survivors?
7. Economic Empowerment: Does the csr project promote economic opportunities for all genders, such as skilling, entrepreneurship support, or addressing wage gaps?
8. Cultural & SocialNorms: Does the proposal consider local gender norms and include strategies to challenge harmful stereotypes or practices that perpetuate #inequality?
9. Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Framework: Does the proposal include gender sensitive indicators in its M&E plan to track progress on gender equality outcomes, such as changes in women’s leadership or access to services?
10. Stakeholder Engagement: Does the project engage diverse gender groups, including women’s organizations, LGBTQ+ communities, or men’s groups, as stakeholders to ensure inclusivity and relevance?
Beyond these ten if feel free to suggest if you want to add on few more must to have indicators.
