*🇺🇦📚 The Media Center Ukraine hosted a presentation of a monograph on the origins of the Ukrainian language* Philologist and Ukrainian Armed Forces Lieutenant Viktor Moisiienko presented a monograph he co-authored with University of Warsaw Professor Joanna Getka. This scholarly work expands our understanding of how the Ukrainian written tradition was formed and how it coexisted with other Slavic languages. Through an analysis of Ruthenian-Ukrainian texts from the 11th to 14th centuries, the authors determine which linguistic features became standardized and are still in use today, which survived only in dialects, and which failed to develop further. Significantly, the monograph debunks the myth of a "triune origin" shared by Ukrainian, Belarusian, and russian. The authors demonstrate that the russian literary language only appears in written sources from the 14th century onward — a crucial argument in countering russian propaganda in the information sphere. The monograph was published by the University of Warsaw and is available in a bilingual edition in Polish and Ukrainian.
