*Gov Kefas’ Investment Drive: La Campagne Tropicana and Motherland Beckons Begins Construction of Two World Class Eco Resorts in Taraba*
Taraba State Government has taken a monumental step in transforming its tourism and economic landscape, following the official announcement of two world class eco-resort projects in Ibi and Zongo Kombi, Ardo Kola Local Government Area.
This development, driven by the administration of His Excellency, Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas, is in partnership with the renowned African-themed resort brand, La Campagne Tropicana, and Motherland Beckons.
The Honourable Commissioner for Heritage and Ecotourism, Hon Joseph Titus Nagombe, disclosed this during a press briefing held on June 5, 2025, in Jalingo. He confirmed that site clearing and preparatory construction for rest areas for the Ibi-Nwonyo eco resort have begun in earnest in Zongo Kombi, Ardo Kola LGA
“This project is not just another investment. It is a bold step towards transforming Taraba into a top-tier destination for agro-tourism and eco-tourism,” the Commissioner stated. “These resorts in Ibi will celebrate our identity, offer immersive African experiences, and reconnect the diaspora with their cultural roots,” he added.
Central to the project is Dr. Wanle Akinboboye, the trailblazing tourism visionary behind La Campagne Tropicana and Motherland Beckons. Known for integrating African culture, hospitality, and eco-conscious design, Dr. Wanle’s involvement is expected to elevate Taraba’s visibility on the global tourism map.
Dr Wanle Otunba, President of Mother Land Beckons disclosed that his organization proposes 100 Million Tourists to Taraba in 5 years.
Teams of engineers and development experts from Trinidad and Tobago, working with the organisation, are already en route to Taraba to begin technical and training work at Nwonyo Lake, Ibi LGA. The eco-resorts, when completed, will not only offer luxury experiences rooted in African traditions, but will also function as agricultural empowerment hubs.
“This is proof that when leadership is intentional and inclusive, development becomes inevitable,” said the Commissioner.
The Ministry of Heritage and Ecotourism, under Nagombe’s leadership, has been at the forefront of identifying and promoting Taraba’s rich cultural and ecological assets. This new partnership with La Campagne Tropicana represents a significant leap forward in the state’s drive to preserve its heritage while creating wealth and global tourism appeal.
With construction now underway and international interest growing, Taraba is on track to become Nigeria’s next major tourism and cultural investment hub.
