*Taraba SEMA Launches Flood Awareness Campaign across the State* The Taraba State Emergency Management Agency (TSEMA) has launched a grassroots campaign awareness exercise to sensitize the public across the state on the impending flood predicted by the Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NIMET). Commencing on June 13, 2025, in Lau Local Government Area (LGA), the exercise targeted flashpoint communities, Kwata Kanawa, and Lau town around riverine areas. The initiative aims to educate residents on necessary precautionary measures and address annual flood disasters that endanger lives and livelihoods during the peak rainy season. Prompted by NIMET's forecast of potential flooding this year, TSEMA's proactive efforts reflect Governor Dr. Agbu Kefas' pledge to safeguard Tarabans from flood-related losses. Led by Executive Secretary Dr. Echuseh Audu, the agency conducted a flood preparedness and awareness campaign, emphasizing community involvement in flood prevention and response. Dr. Audu called on residents to remain alert, report rising water levels to TSEMA, and keep phone lines open for emergency calls. Residents are also advised to be prepared to evacuate if necessary.
