Established in 1994 following the first Earth Summit, the FFEM is a funding instrument created by the French government to support initiatives aligned with international environmental agreements and the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). ✅ Eligibility Criteria: - Open to public institutions, private sector actors, research institutions, and civil society organizations (CSOs) from both the Global South and North. - Projects must be implemented in eligible developing countries. - Preference is given to collaborative and cross-sectoral initiatives involving multiple stakeholders. - Applicants must secure complementary funding and demonstrate financial and technical capacity for implementation. 🌟 Eligible Project Focus Areas: Projects must align with one or more of FFEM’s five priority thematic areas: ✅ Biodiversity:Conservation and enhancement of biodiversity and its associated ecosystem services. ✅ Climate: Low-carbon adaptation of cities and territories. ✅ Land Use: Sustainable management of agricultural and forested landscapes. ✅ Water Systems: Resilience and protection of aquatic ecosystems and water resources. ✅ Circular Economy: Innovation in waste management, pollution control, and resource efficiency.
