A U.S. federal judge in New Jersey has ordered the release of Palestinian activist Mahmoud Khalil, who had been detained since March over his role in pro-Palestinian protests at Columbia University. His release is separate from ongoing deportation proceedings. Speaking after his release from a Louisiana detention center, Khalil said, “Justice prevailed, but it’s very long overdue.”
