Today marks the sixth martyrdom anniversary of President Dr. Mohammad Morsi Shaheed. We, as an Ummah, have felt his absence most deeply over the past several years. He was a leader who stood tall when the world bowed to tyranny. Had he been alive today, the face of the Middle East could have been transformed. He was a hope, a fearless voice for the oppressed, and the most powerful threat to settler colonialists and global imperial powers. Dr. Morsi was the living embodiment of the Islamic movement. He was a servant of Islam in its purest form. A devoted son of Masjid al-Aqsa and a staunch defender of the Palestinian cause. They feared him not because of his government, but because of his īmān, his commitment to truth and justice, and his refusal to compromise. They couldn’t make a bullet brave enough to silence him. So they caged him. Tortured him. Killed him slowly. But even in death, they could not defeat him. His martyrdom is not the end. It is the beginning of a legacy that will rise again, Insha’Allāh. Rest in power, O Martyr of the Ummah. You are not forgotten. You will never be.
