> Its Now Robbery After Robbery 🇿🇼 ‼️
A DARING robbery occurred at the Petromoc Exor filling station in Rusape where four armed men made off with US$15 752 early on Monday morning.
The robbery occurred at about 2am.
Manicaland police spokesperson, Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka, said Obvious Chibayanzaru, 23, a fuel attendant, and Talkmore Kutakwanani, 59, a security guard from Volsec Security Company, had started their shifts at Petromoc Exor, which is adjacent the busy Rusape Bus Terminus.
Ass Insp Chinyoka said the suspects Kutakwanani was conducting a perimeter check and Chibayanzaru was in the office when the robbers pounced.
“Four masked men, armed with iron bars and hammers, appeared on the scene. One of them smashed the outside lights of the office.
“Chibayanzaru quickly activated the alarm to alert his manager after sensing danger.
“Three of the robbers broke the padlock on the screen door using a hammer and then forced open the main office door,” he said.
It is alleged that one of the robbers proceeded to destroy the CCTV monitor and cameras and disabled the alarm system, while another assailant subdued Kutakwanani.
Ass Insp Chinyoka said Kutakwanani was struck on the forehead with a hammer and lost consciousness.
“One of the robbers was left to guard Kutakwanani. Chibayanzaru attempted to flee but was caught and struck on the right shoulder with an iron bar. “He was forced to lie on his stomach.
“The unidentified robbers demanded the strong room keys but were told that no one had them. They then broke down the door using a hammer.”
He said the robbers dragged and brought the safe outside and broke it using a hammer and an unknown object.
The safe contained US$15 752.
The four men took the money and fled the scene.
Collins Kafesu, a Fawcett Security Guard, later arrived at the scene after hearing some commotion. Police were advised of the robbery and attended the scene. They found bloodstains, a broken CCTV system, a damaged screen door and damaged office lights.
Ass Insp Chinyoka urged members of the public, with information regarding the robbery, to come forward and assist with the investigations.
“We appeal to members of the community with information related to the case to report to their nearest police station as it will be helpful in bringing the fugitives to justice.”
Kutakwanani and Chibayanzaru were taken to Rusape General Hospital where they are currently admitted and they are in a serious condition.
