The mother of Blessed Believe Juruvenge (Bee), who died after allegedly being savagely assaulted by a police officer while in custody at Ruwa Police Station, says she will not bury her son until justice is served.
“Vakasatoona zvekuita naye ikoko, hatisi kuzomuviga pasina justice. Achatogara hake mu mortuary imomo!” said the heartbroken mother in a soul-piercing interview with Destiny TV.
Background: A Death in Custody, a Cop Granted Bail
According to court records, Constable Prince Ndavambi, the officer accused of assaulting Bee, was arrested and charged with murder.
However, he was released on US$400 bail and remanded to July 2, sparking outrage from Bee’s family who say justice is being denied.
Juruvenge was arrested on May 27, 2025, after an altercation with a fellow resident, Mwazha/Maphosa, who reported him for assault and theft.

Upon detention, the now deceased was told by Ndavambi that he would return home in a coffin.

“Ini samai vaBee, zvirikundibata zvikuru.
“Pakurohwa kwake akatanga achachema kusvika anyarara”
According to her, Bee’s younger sister Melissa witnessed parts of the brutal beating inside the police station.
She says Bee was handcuffed and had no way to defend himself as the assault unfolded.
“Chirikutirwadza ndechekuti Bee akarohwa Melissa achiona, akasungwa zvekuti anga asisina kana mavhikiro.
“Zvese izvi zvakaitika Melissa akatarisa. Asi doctor vaiti havana chavari kuona,” she said.
“Handina chekuita, handisi kuzomuviga”
With tears streaming down her face, Bee’s mother said she has been unable to eat or sleep since May 27, the day her son died.
“Kubva musi wa27 May handisi kudya, ndichingofunga kuti Bee arikupi. Ini handina kana chekumutakurisa.
“Baba vake vakafa 2013, saka handina kana rubatsiro rwekuita maarrangements. Hatisi kuzomuviga. Achatogara hake mu mortuary imomo.”
She made an impassioned plea to Zimbabweans that she had no other means to transport her son out of mortuary to wherever she will burry him.
“Dai ndaikwanisa kumubereka ndaimubereka ndinomuvigira kumusha nehama dzangu.”
