Well, well, well—look who’s one game away from winning the NBA championship? The never-over-til-they’re-over, who-wudda-thunk-it Indiana Pacers.
Let’s be real: months ago, weeks ago, days ago, with Tyrese Haliburton’s calf pounding in pain, few expected the Pacers to be in this position, set to play in the season’s last contest, a do-or-die Game 7 in OKC Sunday after thumping the Thunder in a one-sided Game 6.
These Finals were supposed to be OKC’s coronation, not Indy’s. The Thunder are young and deep, won a staggering 68 games in the regular season, have the league’s MVP in Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, and, according to the basketball experts, are set to dominate the sport for the next 20,000 years.
