*Don't Walk in Dishonesty*
_By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_
*Day 145 (25/05/2025)*
> _*Proverbs 11:3 (NLT) “Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people.”*_
The subject of honesty and dishonesty is clearly a big issue, and I believe it still is today. Today’s reading reminds us that honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people. Honesty is truthfulness or openness. An honest person is not prone to cheating or stealing. As believers, we need to be honest, and here are three reasons why we must live in honesty:
1. *It is expected of us to live in honesty.*
God expects Christians to live in honesty. Since God cannot lie, He sets the example for all of His people. The Bible warns us in Exodus 20:16 (NKJV), “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbour." Also, the Bible reminds us in Proverbs 16:11(NLT), "The Lord demands accurate scales and balances; he sets the standards for fairness."
2. *Honesty is a guide to our faith.*
Since God’s ultimate plan for our lives is good, and God expects us to glorify Him with our lives, God will take us to that destination if we continue in honesty. The Bible says in Proverbs 11:3 (NLT), "Honesty guides good people; dishonesty destroys treacherous people."
3. *Honesty is a highly sought-after quality.*
Honesty is a quality everybody seeks in a person. For instance, employers or interviewers will always seek to examine candidates for honesty; and honest workers, if they are also diligent, would also be entrusted with more responsibility. The Bible says in Luke 16:10 (NKJV), "He who is faithful in what is least is faithful also in much, and he who is unjust in what is least is unjust also in much." This verse was referring to honesty in our dealings.
_Precious one, be a shining example of honesty to your world because God expects it of us, because honesty is a guide to our faith, and because it is a highly sought-after quality._
*Prayer:*
_Heavenly Father, help me to build a good reputation of honesty day in and day out in Jesus’ name, amen._
