*Down But Not Out!*
_By Archbishop Charles Agyinasare_
_Day 168 (17/06/2025)_
> *Proverbs 24:16 “For a just man falleth seven times, and riseth up again: but the wicked shall fall into mischief.”*
The story of almost every “overnight success” is actually the story of people being knocked down but not knocked out and continuing to persevere in the face of great difficulty and disappointment.
As believers, we must be aware that trials and challenges are bound to come, and we must not stay disappointed or down when they come. Many times, setbacks come to prevent us from reaching our destinations. God does not want us to drawback, but rather to weather the storm and make it to the end.
Here are three things to do to press on and not stay down:
1. *Be grounded in the Word.*
_Acts 17:11 “These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.”_ Just as the believers of Berea were diligent in the search and study of the Word of God, when we seek to know the Word for ourselves, even though many will come to lead us astray, we will not waiver and be removed from the faith.
2. *Pray that you will overcome temptations.*
_1 Corinthians 10:13 (NLT) “The temptations in your life are no different from what others experience. And God is faithful. He will not allow the temptation to be more than you can stand. When you are tempted, he will show you a way out so that you can endure.”_ Temptations will surely come our way, but the faithful God promises to make a way out. As believers, we must stand in prayer on that promise to be strengthened to overcome temptations that come our way to derail us from the faith.
3. *Be constantly filled with the Spirit.*
_Act 4:31 (NIV) “…And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly.”_ Peter and John were able to continue ministry in boldness after they were threatened by Jewish leaders because they were filled again by the Spirit. As a vehicle needs constant refilling of fuel to make its long journey, we must also ask to be constantly filled with the Spirit to make it to the end.
_Precious one, to be successful, you need to be unrelenting in your efforts. You may fail, you may fall, but do not give up. Don’t settle for the abyss._
*Prayer:*
_Heavenly Father, fill me with the spirit of perseverance that would cause me to overcome every difficult situation, in Jesus’ name. Amen._
