Although sunscreen-and-makeup hybrids seem great, they shouldn’t fully replace your SPF (and the American Academy of Dermatology agrees).
The problem is simple: The amount of SPF foundation or other SPF makeup that you would need to achieve sufficient protection from UVA and UVB rays is likely more than you would ever want to apply for aesthetic purposes.
Our poor writer Rose Maura Lorre applied a quarter teaspoon of foundation with SPF — the recommended amount of sunscreen for full sun protection — and it’s looking a little ... heavy handed. Sorry, Rose.
