Since Israel's war against Hamas began, kids often pick through trash for wood or plastic to burn, or for anything worth selling. But for the first time, people are now occasionally seen picking through garbage for scraps of food.
It's a sign of the depths of desperation Gaza's population is reaching after Israel's near-complete blockade of the Palestinian territory the past three months.
The entry of a small amount of aid in the past week has done almost nothing to ease the situation.
