In a big move for road safety, the Transport Ministry has made Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) mandatory for all new two-wheelers, regardless of engine size, starting January 1, 2026. Buyers will also receive two helmets with every new scooter or bike. Currently, ABS is only required for vehicles above 125cc. This change will now cover the remaining 40% of two-wheelers, aiming to significantly reduce accidents. ABS can lower crash risk by 35–45%.
