*House Invites Citizens, Stakeholders to Public Hearing on Nigeria’s Public Service Framework*
*Abuja, FCT | Friday, June 20, 2025* — The House of Representatives, through its Committee on Public Service Matters, invites the general public and relevant stakeholders across the public sector to a Public Hearing on key legislative proposals and resolutions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s public service framework.

Among the legislative instruments and resolutions to be considered are:
1. Widowhood Leave Bill, 2024 (HB. 401)
2. National Assembly Service Bill, 2025 (HB. 2056)
3. National Assembly Service Pension Board (Establishment) (Amendment) Bill, 2025 (HB. 2240)
4. Motion on the Need to Abrogate the Federal Government Policy on Compulsory Retirement of Public Servants who have Attained Eight Years as Directors in MDAs (HR. 30/07/2024)
5. Motion on the Stagnation of Promotion in the Federal Civil Service (HR. 08/07/2024)
6. Motion on the Call to Investigate and Prosecute Age Falsification in Nigeria’s Civil Service (HR. 181/11/2024)
Chairman of the House Committee on Public Service Matters, Rep. Sani Umar Bala, ANFCEN, FCIPEN, emphasised that the hearing represents the House’s unwavering commitment to participatory governance, institutional reform, and public accountability.
“This Public Hearing provides a crucial platform for public servants, legal experts, civil society organisations, and the general public to engage constructively with the legislative process. The House remains focused on enacting reforms that promote meritocracy, fairness, and professionalism in Nigeria’s public service,” Rep. Bala stated.
