Job Summary:
The Director General (DG) serves as the Chief Executive Officer of the Chamber of Commerce, responsible for the day-to-day administration and strategic leadership of the Chamber. The DG ensures the effective execution of the Chamber’s mission to promote and facilitate bilateral trade and investment between Nigeria and the international communities. The role requires a dynamic, visionary, and diplomatic professional with a strong understanding of both Nigerian and international business environments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide visionary leadership and strategic direction in line with the Chamber's mission and objectives.
- Work closely with the Executive Council to implement policies and initiatives that enhance the Chamber’s relevance and impact.
- Drive initiatives that promote Nigeria–other international. trade relations and investment opportunities.
- Act as the principal representative and spokesperson of the Chamber to government agencies, private sector partners, international organisations, and media.
- Build and maintain high-level relationships with stakeholders in Nigeria and foreign countries, including government officials, diplomats, investors, and business leaders.
- Represent the Chamber in policy advocacy initiatives that promote favourable business environments for member organisations.
- Oversee the operational management of the Chamber, including programs, finance, human resources, events, and communications.
- Ensure compliance with legal, financial, and governance standards.
- Prepare reports, budgets, and strategic plans for review and approval by the Executive Council.
- Drive membership growth and engagement strategies to expand the Chamber’s network and value proposition.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing members and ensure the delivery of valuable services, programs, and networking opportunities.
- Develop and implement impactful programs, forums, business missions, and networking events that promote trade and investment.
- Manage strategic partnerships with international communities and Nigerian chambers, trade groups, and business associations.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business administration, International Relations, Economics, Law, or a related field; a master’s degree or MBA is an added advantage.
- Minimum of 10 years of senior-level experience in leadership roles within business associations, international trade, private sector development, or government.
- Strong knowledge of bilateral trade, policy advocacy.
- Proven ability to engage with high-level stakeholders across sectors and countries.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and public speaking skills.
- Strong administrative and financial management skills.
- Demonstrated experience in developing and implementing strategic plans and programs.
