Call for Applications The Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing is now accepting applications for the 2025 Gemino H. Abad Seminar-Workshop for Teaching Literature. The Likhaan UP Institute of Creative Writing has conceptualized a seminar-workshop made specifically for the benefit of teachers and educators who have the capacity to spark an interest in Philippine literature among the young minds of the country. This seminar-workshop is named after one of our ICW fellows, the poet, anthologist, literary critic, and educator, Professor Emeritus and National Artist for Literature Gemino H. Abad, to emphasize the seminar-workshop’s two key elements: 1) our shared, national literature and 2) the importance of continuing to pass it on through education. RHYTHM n BOTS: Teaching Lit in the Time of AI - Poetry, Prose, and Prompt October 27-29, 2025 University of the Philippines Diliman “RHYTHM n BOTS: Teaching Lit in the time of AI - Poetry, Prose, and Prompt” is a three-day seminar-workshop that confronts the contradictions, challenges, and trajectories of teaching literature and creative writing in the Philippines during a period of rapid progress in the fields of generative artificial intelligence and large language models. Aside from lectures and seminars, participants will get the chance to engage in practical workshops and converse with scholars and experts from various fields. The seminar-workshop is open to teachers of literature and creative writing in English and Filipino at the secondary and tertiary levels nationwide.
