My sister'swedding invitation cards had already been distributed to our relatives and friends a few days back. Finally, the day everyone had been eagerly awaiting came. The ceremony was held at a church building. The decorations were absolutely stunning, one would swear that the whole building looked like heaven itself. The guests came wearing the same dress-code (blue and white) it was just amazing, not forgetting the wedding cake, it looked yummy. My mouth watered before I even tasted it. The catering team was roaming around the venue holding chafing dishes full of various kinds of food. When the bridegroom and his family arrived at the venue, noises of hooting cars and people ullulating filled the whole yard. My sister could not help blushing, the beautician almost snapped at her as her face was already turning pink due to shyness ruining the make-up --fits of being a yellow-bone. Truth be told, my big sis really looked ravishing in her whole white lacy dress and a silver tiara . Well, the 'Queen' couldn't wait any longer to meet her 'King' so we walked hand in hand towards the hall where the happiest father of the year (our dad) took over and walked my sister down the aisle. They both danced slightly as Tatiana Manois' song _'I used to_ ' played on full blast . They made way to the wedding altar. Tears of joy streamed down my cheeks as I witnessed my sister's dream finally coming to reality. The guests brought lots of gifts for the soon to be weds. After completing all the formalities (vows and exchange of rings), the pastor exclaimed "If there's anyone present here today, who disagrees with these two's decision of being together.... say it now ....or forever hold your peace!". The old tired-looking man halted taking out a tissue, wiping his forehead which was dripping wet with sweat. Silence took over for what seemed like a minute. '' well seems like all is well..Mr Dingiswayo you may now ki**" he didn't get to finish a lady's sharp voice cut him short " Stop this madness right now!". Drawing everyone's attention young beautiful lady in her early 20s walked in with two female doctors. It was the bridegroom's sister with an envelope in her hand containing whatever God knew before us. She then pulled out three pure white documents from the envelope, throwing them at the bride and bridegroom's faces in a rude manner. Without halting for a second, the other doctor broke the silence by announcing that the papers contained the bride's test results both virginity and HIV. Everyone was puzzled as to what was actually going on. I prayed to the mighty man of war that somehow the results should not affect the beautiful day but to no avail, the doctor screamed her lungs out humiliating my sister "These test results prove that Ms Ademola is no longer a virgin, secondly she's HIV positive and a month pregnant " "Am I dreaming?'' I asked myselfin shock. As I turned to the bridegroom's side he was beyond the word 'furious'. It was crystal clear to me and everyone else that he was not the one responsible for my sister's pregnancy and everything else. Everyone's jaws dropped on hearing this despicable news. The day which was supposed to be the most joyous day for my parents and I, turned out to be the worst. As for my sister, she cooped herself in the building's corner in short of words like a three year old caught by her mother stealing butter in the cupboard. A lump of pain got stuck on my dad's throat as he watched his dream of becoming a proud father, going down the drain. My mom broke down into tears feeling the excruciating pain on her chest. To make matters worse, the media team was there and couldn't stop asking questions while recording videos. The whole country was aware of the shameful incident in just a blink of an eye. The wedding got called off, and bridegroom's family asked for their money and gifts back. The bridegroom cancelled all the honeymoon tickets to China he had booked. All the food was left untouched, the guests packed all the gifts they had brought for my sister and stormed out spitting at her , calling her all sorts of disgusting names. It was the most disastrous wedding I ever witnessed and the most shameful day for my family and I. The events of this day tarnished my dad's reputation.
