Four senior police officers charged in baby Samantha Pendo’s mu-rder case have been granted a cash bail of Ksh.1 million shillings and two sureties of Ksh.500,000 each. Six-month-old Baby Pendo was hit by Rungu in August 2017 as police were deployed to quell vio-len-ce linked to post-election protests in Kisumu. Justice Margaret Muigai emphasises that bail is a constitutional right but comes with strict conditions, including not interfering with witnesses or victims, not visiting crime scenes, surrendering passports, and reporting to the nearest IPOA office every three months. The case is set for mention on July 2, 2025, and the court has also extended an arrest warrant for an 11th suspect still at large.
