Dear Mevana Residents, Please be advised that the uMngeni Municipality is currently rolling out a programme to install new electricity meters at homes where meters are either outdated or missing. As part of this initiative, we are also inspecting existing meters to ensure proper functionality. This work forms part of the municipality’s responsibility to maintain and upgrade its electrical infrastructure, and is essential for improving service delivery. The same programme is being implemented in other areas, including parts of Howick, Zenzane, and Mpophomeni. Mevana is not being singled out. This programme is being rolled out in the entire municipal jurisdiction in phases as we started in Mevana. Eskom is in the process of rolling out a similar smart metering solution in the areas currently under their licence. We kindly urge all residents to cooperate with municipal officials and appointed contractors. Interfering with or obstructing municipal work is unlawful and may lead to consequences.
