On the authority of ʿĀʾishah bint Abī Bakr, may Allah be pleased with them both, who said:
“I used to enter my house in which the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and my father were buried, so I would lay aside my garment, and I would say: ‘It is only my husband and my father.’ But when ʿUmar was buried alongside them—by Allah, I never entered except that I kept my clothes tightly wrapped around me, out of shyness from ʿUmar.” (Authenticated by al-Albānī in Takhrīj al-Mishkāt, 1712)
She felt shy before the dead!
So what is the case with some of our women who do not even feel shy before the living?!
