BUSINESS NEWS | GHANA AND BEYOND 🌍 20/06/2025 🚩Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) has announced a final dividend of GH¢1.6704 per share to all shareholders for the 2024 financial year. This will, however be subject to approval at the upcoming Annual General Meeting. All shareholders registered in the books of SCB at the close of business on, Friday July 11, 2025, will qualify for the final dividend. In view of the foregoing, the ex-dividend date has been set as Wednesday, July 09, 2025. Consequently, an investor purchasing SCB shares before this date will be entitled to the final dividend. However, an investor buying SCB shares on or after Wednesday, July 09, 2025, will not be entitled to the final dividend. The Bank stated that the final dividend will be paid on Thursday, July 31, 2025 🚩Fitch Solutions has revised Ghana's average inflation in 2025 to 17.2% from the earlier 18.8%. According to the UK-based firm, this will ease pressure on household budgets and supporting consumer spending. Its sister firm, Fitch Ratings, however, predicted an average inflation of 15% in 2025. Fitch Solutions said that high-frequency indicators reinforce its outlook for robust consumer spending. The Bank of Ghana (BoG)'s Consumer Confidence Index reached 103.6 in April - substantially above the 87.7 recorded a year earlier - reflecting improved sentiment about personal finances and pointing to increased consumer spending ahead. 🚩China has ramped up its economic engagement with Africa, injecting more than $22.85 billion in fresh investments and funding. It has also posted a record-high trade volume of $134 billion within the first five months of 2025 alone. Mr Tong Defa, Chinese Ambassador to Ghana, disclosed this during a quarterly media briefing at his residence in Accra on Wednesday.
