सासाराम और रूपनाथ में मौजूद सम्राट असोक के शिलालेखों के तुलनात्मक अध्ययन से पता चलता है कि उपासक का जन्म उपशाक्य से हुआ है. सासाराम में जहां " उपासक " है, वही रूपनाथ में उसकी जगह " सक " ( शाक्य ) है. साकमुनि को याद कीजिए. उपासक हैं तो उपासना है. यदि संविधान की प्रस्तावना में " पूजा " की जगह " उपासना " दर्ज है तो इसमें आश्चर्य नहीं.
