Tesla has secured a major $450 million contract from Clearway Energy to supply 490 MW/1,356 MWh of Megapack battery energy storage systems. These Megapack 2 XL units, to be manufactured at Tesla’s Lathrop, California facility, will expand Clearway’s existing fleet and support grid reliability and renewable energy integration in California and Colorado, with deliveries set to begin in 2026. Once fully operational, Clearway’s Tesla-powered energy storage capacity will exceed 1 GW, marking a significant step forward in utility-scale battery deployment in the U.S.
