Goodbye, Grand Ocean Cinema 海運戲院 👋🏻 The 56-year-old Grand Ocean Cinema is closing its doors today, on 1 June 2025. This is the fifth theatre to shut down in Hong Kong this year. *Grab the chance to enter this 52 years old theatre on its open day on 22 Feb (Sat).* The theatre in North Point has been showcasing Cantonese Opera in Hong Kong since 1972. It was listed as one of the Top 25 Authentic Asian Experiences by the US Time in 2009. The theatre also won the title of “Hong Kong’s Grand Palace for Cantonese Opera” in 1993 when it held 38 consecutive full-house shows in one season.
