📰 *GMB Pays Out ZiG$282M, Clears US$33M for Wheat Deliveries* The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) has paid wheat farmers more than ZiG$282 million for grain deliveries, following the release of an additional ZiG$52.1 million from Treasury this week. The payout also includes the full settlement of a previously owed US$33 million, in a move aimed at stabilising the wheat sector and reinforcing national food self-sufficiency. The disbursements come as Zimbabwe enters a critical winter cropping season, with government targeting increased local wheat output to meet domestic demand and reduce reliance on imports. GMB Chief Executive Officer Mr Edison Badarai told ZBC News the development followed strong inter-ministerial collaboration. “The Grain Marketing Board has received ZiG$52.1 million for wheat payments this week, bringing total payments for wheat deliveries to ZiG$282 million and US$33 million, which has since been cleared. “We appreciate the support from our parent ministry and Treasury, as well as the farmers who continue to partner with the GMB to secure food sovereignty,” he said.
