*And Now In Tech News:* Potraz, together with the Internet Society Zimbabwe Chapter, held a week-long Train-the-Trainer workshop recently in Masvingo for 63 teachers with visual impairments and their aides, focusing on building digital literacy using Microsoft Office and Dolphin SuperNova—a specialized assistive software that offers screen magnification, speech output, and braille support. The initiative is part of efforts to promote digital inclusion and equip visually impaired educators with the tools needed to effectively integrate technology into their teaching environments. NetOne launched a nationwide digital skills initiative at Harare Polytechnic, aimed at promoting digital literacy among youth, small businesses, and underserved communities. Dubbed the Vision 2030 Community Digital Literacy and Technology Skills Training, the program seeks to equip participants with the essential tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital economy. Speaking at the launch, Minister of Skills Audit and Development Paul Mavima underscored the importance of affordable internet access, digital education, and inclusive technology in driving national development and expanding opportunities for marginalized groups. UNDP and the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to jointly design the Africa Digital Empowerment and Innovation Hub, a major initiative aimed at accelerating digital transformation across the continent. The hub will serve as a collaborative platform to co-create digital solutions, build institutional and human capacity, and foster South-South cooperation. According to the UNDP, it will leverage open-source technologies, digital public goods, and locally driven innovations to modernise Africa’s digital ecosystem and support inclusive growth. *Tech Tip Of The Day:* Use Notion AI to write meeting notes, summarize lengthy articles, generate task lists, and plan projects on your behalf. *Ecocash is On The Verge Of Committing Corporate Self-Sabotage* Ecocash is about to make the biggest brand suicidal mistake. After running a big brand for more than 10 years, investing in brand visibility, market confidence, top-of-mind awareness, and brand confidence, someone has just decided to throw all that away in the name of personal identification. The art of communication intent and purpose must be clear and concise, alleviating any doubt, especially when dealing with a big brand like Ecocash. There is an official circular making rounds claiming that EcoCash is now rebranding to “TN Cybertech Investments Holdings Limited.” If this is the correct interpretation of the circular, welcome to the biggest branding suicide of this generation. This, without a shred of doubt, will be the most ignorant, ill-advised, and pride-before-a-fall moment against one of the three biggest mobile money payment platforms in Zimbabwe. *Zimbabwe’s US$400 Million Monthly Surplus Bolsters Economic Stability and Lending Outlook* Zimbabwe’s economy is showing growing signs of stability, buoyed by a consistent monthly foreign currency surplus of US$400 million, according to the Reserve Bank of Zimbabwe (RBZ). The central bank reports that from January 2024 to February 2025, the country recorded average monthly foreign currency inflows of US$1.1 billion, while external payment obligations stood at US$784 million. The resulting surplus is creating a robust financial buffer that is helping to stabilise the economy, underpin the local currency, and strengthen liquidity across the financial system. “This surplus provides crucial breathing room for the economy, allowing us to anchor monetary policy and enhance confidence in the financial system,” said RBZ Governor Dr John Mushayavanhu. https://technomag.co.zw/zimbabwes-us400-million-monthly-surplus-bolsters-economic-stability-and-lending-outlook/
