*BLOATING* Bloating is one of the major worries in almost all households nowadays due to the increase in people’s unhealthy habits and fast lifestyle. Bloating typically originates from a gas deposition in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract. The mouth and the anus are the two ends of the GI tract, which covers every part of your digestive tract. Bloating gives you a sense that your stomach is full or you have just had a large meal. Bloating has usual symptoms like: ❗️Discomfort in your stomach ❗️Feeling more than full ❗️Your stomach feels tight ❗️Your stomach makes funny rumbling sounds ❗️You fart more than usual. *How To Prevent Bloating* *Don’t eat too much* Chew your food thoroughly and eat slowly. Take smaller portions on your plate. When you eat slower, you’ll start to feel when your belly is full. You’ll eat less if you can feel when your body has had enough to eat. *Avoid salty and fatty foods* Foods high in salt and fat are harder for your digestive system to break down. This leads to more gas. *Stay hydrated* Drinking water can help move food through your digestive system, preventing constipation and bloating. *How To Relieve Bloating* *Tea* : Peppermint and ginger tea have anti - bloating properties. *Medications* Certain over the counter medications help to temporarily relieve bloating. Common antacids people use include Gerucil, Pepto Bismal, Gas-X and Tums. *Heat* Use a warm compress, a hot water bottle or a heating pad. Applying heat to your abdomen can help relax muscles. The warmth helps get rid of belly pain that comes along with bloating. When your muscles are more relaxed, your body can more comfortably digest. *Get moving* Physical activity can stimulate digestion and alleviate bloating. Incorporate light exercises, such as walking or stretching, into your routine. *#HealthandLifeWorld*

*WORLD MENSTRUAL HYGIENE DAY* Menstruation, also known as periods, is a completely natural and normal part of every girl and woman’s life. It usually begins between the ages of 9 and 15 (called menarche) and continues until menopause, around the age of 45–55. Despite being such a routine biological process, it is still surrounded by stigma, myths, and lack of awareness, especially in rural and conservative communities. On World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, let us tell you about the signs of a healthy period. *What does a healthy period look like?* Every woman’s cycle is a bit different, but a healthy menstrual cycle is marked by certain signs. 1. *Duration* : A healthy period usually lasts between 21 to 35 days, with the average being 28 days. 2. *Blood flow:* The blood should be between 30 to 80 ml. While this may vary from person to person, you should be able to tell if your period flow is scanty or superfluous. 3. *Colour* : A healthy period colour can range from bright red to dark red. Bright red blood signifies fresh and free flow, while deep red or brown blood may indicate old blood or slower flow. 4. *Pain* : Some mild symptoms like cramps, backache, bloating, or mood swings are normal. 5. *Smell* : The menstrual flow should not have a foul smell. *Why does menstrual hygiene matter?* Unfortunately, many girls, especially in rural areas, are still treated unfairly when they get their period. They are often kept isolated in a room and not allowed to enter the kitchen or touch food items. This treatment – or period poverty – comes from age-old myths that have no scientific basis. Another major problem is the lack of clean toilets and running water in schools and public places. This makes it very difficult for girls to manage their periods in a healthy way and with dignity. Something as natural as a period should never stop a girl from getting an education. Unsanitary toilet conditions can contribute to menstrual problems like infections. We also need to ensure that proper menstrual products like sanitary pads, tampons, and menstrual cups are available, affordable, and safe to use. Many girls are still unaware of these options due to limited awareness and education. Keeping yourself clean and hygienic are important for a healthy period. *How to maintain menstrual hygiene?* Taking care of period hygiene is simple but essential. Here are some tips: ✅Change your undergarments twice a day and wash them properly. ✅Always change your sanitary pad at least every 6 hours. ✅Wash the vaginal area gently every time you change your pad or tampon. ✅If using a menstrual cup, sterilize it before and after each cycle. ✅Tampons should be changed every 4 to 6 hours to prevent infections. Most importantly, treat menstruation as a normal part of life, not something to hide or be ashamed of. #HealthandLifeWorld

👀 It’s time to turn our eyes to one of the most significant eye health threats of the 21st Century. 👓 Did you know that ‘shortsightedness’ or ‘nearsightedness’ are other names for myopia? They mean that a person can see clearly up close, but not well far away. 🧒🏽 Myopia is becoming more common in young children. If a parent has myopia, their children are more likely to develop it too. 📚 Near activities are ones that involve looking at things close up, like reading a book or using a smartphone. Lots of time on these things can increase myopia risk. Here are some common myopia symptoms: 🔹 Difficulty seeing things across the room and far away. 🔹 Eye rubbing, squinting or closing one eye to see. 🔹 Sitting too close to the TV or holding a book too close. 🔹 Sore or tired eyes. These tips can help you prevent developing myopia: 🏞️ Spending time outdoors. 📱 Holding a book or device at least 30cm from eyes. 💡 Implementing 20-20-20 rule. Take a 20 second break to view something 20 feet away every 20 minutes of doing near activities. Regular eye exams are important!
